J Johnstone Engineering recently completed the design and fabrication of 10 custom steel wire cages to help a client safely and efficiently handle bundles of 10mm wire coils. These cages were built to allow wire to be pulled off cleanly during use, preventing tangling, snagging, and workplace delays.

The client needed a way to reduce downtime and improve the reliability of their wire handling process. Previously, workers had to deal with snagged or tangled wire when uncoiling, which slowed production and increased the risk of damage or injury.
We developed a simple, robust solution: a custom steel cage that securely holds each coil in place, allowing wire to be pulled off smoothly and safely.
Each cage was:
- Sized precisely for 10mm wire coils
- Built using strong, welded steel for repeated use
- Designed to keep the coil stable, upright, and untangled
