J Johnstone Engineering recently completed the design, fabrication, and installation of a new galvanized structural steel staircase for an industrial client based in Silloth. The new staircase replaces an existing structure that had suffered extensive corrosion over time, restoring safe and reliable access for maintenance teams.
Designed and Built In-House
The entire project — from initial design to final installation — was carried out by our experienced in-house engineering team. Using our workshop facilities, we fabricated the staircase components to precise specifications, ensuring a robust and durable finish suitable for the site’s demanding environment.
To ensure long-term corrosion resistance, all components were hot-dip galvanized, providing superior protection against the coastal climate conditions around Silloth.
A Smart Solution for a Tight Space
The staircase was located on the roof of a factory, making access and installation challenging. To overcome these constraints, our engineers designed the staircase as a bolt-together system, allowing each section to be lifted and assembled safely in position without requiring extensive on-site welding or large equipment.
This approach minimized downtime for the client and ensured a clean, efficient installation within a limited work area.
